KOVI Kitchen is the brainchild of Chef Vi Nguyen. Vi comes from a family of restaurant owners and has always loved cooking and eating delicious food. However, Vi did not fulfill his passion right away. He worked in the mortgage industry for years while occasionally cooking for friends and family as a hobby. “I read Anthony Bourdain’s Kitchen Confidential and finally realized what I was meant to do. Two weeks later I applied for culinary school,” Vi said.

Vi studied at L'Academie de Cuisine and worked under chef Fabio Traboochi at Maestro, Ritz Carlton during his internship. With over 29 years of experience in the hospitality industry and 15 years of professional leadership, Vi has extensive knowledge in all aspects of restaurants including Front and Back of House, full service and fast casual dining, as well as hotel and resort management. After working in the restaurant industry for years, friends encouraged him to realize his dream and develop his innovative concept. In 2016, he partnered with good friend, Dean Boeving, and purchased a food truck to begin introducing the KOVI concept to the marketplace. The feedback from thousands of customers was so positive that Vi and Dean decided to open their first fast-casual restaurant in Arlington, VA. 

KOVI is all about fresh, organic ingredients. You will find that the KOVI’s take on Asian street food is not traditional… and it is not meant to be. Although the menu is inspired by Korean, Vietnamese, and other Asian cuisine; all of the menu items have the unique and creative KOVI twist. We think it is delicious and we hope you think so too.
